The Michigan Youth Arts Association is a 47-year old organization that recognizes, supports and celebrates the artistic excellence of young artists in Michigan. MYAA is an exciting organization to work for and has a long and strong reputation for its excellent programming in the area of arts education. Currently MYAA is looking to hire its first Associate Director to work closely with the Executive Director and Board to achieve and expand upon its fundraising and operational goals.

Hours: Full-time, occasional evening and weekend work required*
Salary: Based on Experience

The ideal candidate for this position will possess a combination of skills, experience, and passion in the following areas:

• Five years of experience in development, especially in individual campaigns and corporate and foundation relations
• The ability to take initiative while remaining open to ideas of others
• Skills in collaboration and teamwork
• The ability to be flexible and adaptable
• Entrepreneurial with a self led attitude
• Some experience in sponsorships, funding budgeting and financial planning
• Excellent presentation and communications (written and oral) skills
• Experience with and acquainted with Michigan's philanthropic community
• An understanding and commitment to arts education issues

Specific areas of responsibility include:
Fundraising
 • Works with the Executive Director to design, implement and manage all fundraising activities
• Manages all strategies and activities for donor cultivation, solicitation, and relations
• Maintains contact with and develops grant proposals and reports for funders
• Works closely with the Executive Director and Program staff to assess development needs and overall fundraising plan
• Supports the Executive Director in representing MYAA's needs, accomplishments, and relationships to funders

Board of Directors Relations
• Works with the Development Committee of the Board of Directors and the Executive Director to develop strategies to initiate and meet fundraising goals
• Develops fundraising training for Board and Development Committee members
• Assumes responsibility for all Development reports to the Board and attends all Board meetings

Development Operations
• Creates office systems to support all development projects and operations
• Supervises donor and gift record-keeping
• Coordinates development research activities
• Oversees the management of databases and all records, files, and donor processing
• Analyzes and suggests improvements to program efficiency Programmatic Implementation
• Assist in researching, developing, and coordinating programming of MYAA
