ALICE: Arts and Literacy in Children’s Education seeks experienced teaching artists in visual and performing arts for elementary, middle school, and high school residencies and after-school programs. ALICE is expanding its artist roster to meet the growing demand for our programs. Our teachers are professional, working artists who are also outstanding educators of young people. Your application is for inclusion in our roster, not for a specific residency. Residencies vary in length from 8 weeks to 34 weeks. Some begin in September 2008, others in January 2009. We are particularly interested in—but not limited to—artists who are: · Bi-lingual – especially Spanish · Of color · Willing to work in Oakland, West Contra Costa, and Hayward school districts (as well as San Francisco) ALICE is the fastest growing arts provider in the Bay Area, now serving over 4,000 elementary, middle and high school students.
