For 33 years, Oddfellows Playhouse has been offering a year-round program of theater and performing arts classes, productions, special events and neighborhood-based programs to over 2,000 central Connecticut young people annually. More than just a performing arts program, Oddfellows aims to make a positive difference in the lives of young people by using the arts as tools to build self-confidence, communication skills, a sense of responsibility, and an appreciation for the richness and diversity of the world in which we live. The best professional teaching artists from the region are recruited to provide ambitious and challenging programs, and the Playhouse actively seeks the participation of children from all backgrounds in an effort to promote multicultural understanding.

The Managing Director shares leadership of the organization with the Producing Artistic Director and reports to the Board of Directors.

Salary commensurate with experience. This position includes health insurance and paid vacation time.

Position starts: On or near October 15, 2008
Duties: 
•Fundraising:
--responsible for annual fund drive ($50K+) and donor relations
--collaborate with Development Director on grant applications to raise unearned income needed to meet the Playhouse
annual budget ($380K in FY08)
--spearhead a capital campaign for any major capital projects
•Financial:
--serve as Chief Financial Officer overseeing annual budget of ca. $550K, prepare quarterly reports for Finance
Committee, work with Endowment Manager on monitoring $500K endowment
--supervise Finance Associate on day-to-day bookkeeping and accounting
•Marketing:
--Develop and implement comprehensive marketing strategy to position and reinforce Oddfellows as a leader in youth
arts and youth development
--Cultivate professional contacts with local associations and serve as the public face of the organization
•Serve as strategic and long-term planning engine of the organization, in collaboration with the Producing Artistic
Director, and serve as the primary liaison to the Board of Directors, staffing committee meetings and working to ensure
Board composition reflects the strategic interests of the Playhouse
•Provide primary Human Resources oversight and supervise personnel - and together with Producing Artistic
Director, manage staff of 4 full-time and 20 part-time employees
Requirements: 
--BA required. Minimum 2-3 years management experience in a non-profit setting.
--Proven financial management, including knowledge of GAAP and non-profit audits
--Proven fundraising expertise, including grants, individual donors (annual fund) and fundraising events.
--Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate on all levels.
--Must be able to manage several projects simultaneously and determine priorities.
--Experience managing a staff and working with diverse constituencies.
--Leadership ability and collaborative spirit.
--Commitment to social and multicultural mission.
--Must be proficient in Microsoft Office, Quickbooks or similar program, knowledge of web design/IT a bonus.
