The Imagine Bus Project helps break the isolation many inner-city children face by introducing them to the wonders of art. The Project keeps kids off the streets, helps build their self-esteem, makes them better students, and contributes to healthier families in more creative communities. 

Description
The Imagine Bus Project is seeking a dynamic and experienced part-time artist/educator to conduct art classes within our innovative after-school art program.

Start Date:  January 12, 2009

End Date:  May 28, 2009

Time Commitment:  T,TH 4:30 - 6:30 pm at the Visitacion Valley Boys & Girls Club, as well as, periodic meetings with Program Director and other teaching artists

Compensation: $24 - $26/hr DOE

Duties: 
Plan and teach visual art classes to diverse youth in K-4th grades
Develop curriculum and lesson plans in collaboration with Program Manager
Prepare developmentally appropriate lessons and materials for each lesson
Participate in staff meetings
Plan and supervise occasional field trips
Assist in evaluating program effectiveness
Requirements: 
2 years minimum of experience teaching visual art
Experience teaching children ages 5-12 in small and large groups.
Knowledge and experience of a range of art media and processes
Experience with developing curriculum in visual art
Good written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
B.A. (or equivalent experience) in Studio Art or Art Education
Experience working with diverse ethnic populations in an urban setting
