Trash Mash-Up

Description: 
Trash Mash-Up is a community art project. Using disposable materials, collected before they enter the waste stream, participants construct “Maskostumes” which are original pageant masks and costumes inspired by traditions from around the world. This project reduces waste and inspires people to see each other and our environment in a new way.

Art in Action

Description: 
Art in Action enriches children's lives through art. Nearly 100 elementary and middle schools offer Art in Action in more than 1000 classrooms. Art in Action trains participating schools' teachers, docents, and volunteers to teach the sequential, standards-based visual art curriculum to more than 23,000 students in the Bay Area and beyond. More than 800 children attend summer ARTcamp, and local libraries display over 3,000 works of student art annually. Art in Action supplies pre-packaged lesson-specific art materials. Art in Action was founded in 1982 and is a nonprofit organization.

Kala Art Institute

Description: 

Kala Art Institute provides a communal meeting place forartists from around the world who are offered the gift of time and space tofurther develop their unique visions in our West Berkeley studios. These talented artists form the creative corps of Kala’s Artists-In-Schools program,through which they share their expertise with K-12 students in Alameda County.

Description: 
The Education Department at SFMOMA organizes a wide range of programs for audiences of all ages. Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco (DE YOUNG ART CENTER) (PALACE OF THE LEGION OF HONOR)

Description: 

During the Doing & Viewing Art program, children visit a different museum gallery every week for ten weeks, and then participate in related studio art activities under the guidance of professional artists. The de Young also offers Saturday workshops for families in subjects such as paper art, drawing and painting.

San Francisco Childrens Art Center

Description: 

The San Francisco Children's Art Center is a non-profit organization whose mission is to empower children and foster their sense of self through artistic exploration. Our focus is on a process-oriented art experience. While providing instruction in the use of art materials and techniques, our teachers guide students through the creative process in an effort to support each child's individual style of expression. We offer a full range of classes in our Fort Mason studio, for children ages 22 months to 12 years of age, as well as Family Workshops and Birthday Parties on Sundays. Classroom visits, field trips, outreach events and professional development led by book artist/instructors introduce bookmaking as a way of fostering literacy and nurturing artistc expression, while creatively incorporating topics across curriculm. Rayko Photo

Description: 
RayKo’s expertise is in all things photography.  We offer affordable photo-based workshops and facility rentals for school groups, after school programs, community groups, non-profits and arts institutions. RayKo is a comprehensive rental photographic facility with black and white and color darkrooms, digital labs, studio, a gallery space and an photographic education center. We can help teachers and administrators utilize photography as a tool for teaching.  In studying photography, students can expand their visual vocabulary, learn about narrative, art history, critique, chemistry and even mathematics!

World Savvy Global Youth Media & Arts Program

Description: 
The Global Youth Media and Arts Program is an arts education program for youth ages 12-18 in New York and San Francisco.

Through the MAP youth use their own lives and communities as a platform to examine global themes such as Peace and Conflict, Immigration and Identity, and Power in Global Society using visual arts, performance and media. This program illuminates the connections between community and world affairs and helps young people learn to use art and media as tools for self-expression, dialogue, and community engagement.
