RayKo’s expertise is in all things photography. We offer affordable photo-based workshops and facility rentals for school groups, after school programs, community groups, non-profits and arts institutions.
RayKo is a comprehensive rental photographic facility with black and white and color darkrooms, digital labs, studio, a gallery space and an photographic education center.
We can help teachers and administrators utilize photography as a tool for teaching. In studying photography, students can expand their visual vocabulary, learn about narrative, art history, critique, chemistry and even mathematics!
Folk Art International
Description:
Folk Art International has an extensive resource loan program that is available to teachers and adults who work with youth in community settings. Arts based and integrated curricula are available in the visual arts, social studies, English, literature, writing, and science. The resource binders include background information, teaching suggestions, and student activities, and are targeted to grades K-8.
Randall Museum
Description:
The Randall Museum is a free museum in San Francisco where children, families, and the community can participate in an integrated program of science and art. The Museum's programs are designed to inspire creativity and to foster curiosity about the natural world. The Museum attracts over 86,000 visitors annually. In a beautiful natural setting overlooking the city, the Museum offers experiential education through field trips, habitat restoration, a live animal exhibit, changing interactive exhibits, performances, classes, drop-in activities, and special events. It is a magical place beloved by families of the Bay Area.
Leap...imagination in learning
Description:
Leap's mission is to stimulate imagination and creativity in Bay Area children by bringing visual and performing artists and architects into the classroom for extended residencies. Leap artists and architects team with teachers to design participatory projects that augment and amplify the school's curriculum. Our purpose is to interweave all aspects of learning with the creative process.
World Arts West - People Like Me - San Francisco Ethnic Dance Festival
Description:
People Like Me, the San Francisco Ethnic Dance Festival's arts education program, presents a 1-hour performance at theaters in San Francisco, Oakland and San Jose in March each year. PLM features five diverse ethnic dance and music styles in an interactive theatrical format format for grades K-8. Each year's program embeds a theme and curriculum topics connected to the California Visual and Performing Arts Framework (dance, music, theatre, visual arts) and to the California State Standards (literary arts, science, history, geography, social studies, math), and highlight the diversity of cultural expression and language. PLM is connected to the highly acclaimed San Francisco Ethnic Dance Festival. Professional development workshops and residencies in dance and movement are available. Each June, under the direction of Executive Director, Julie Mushet, the SF Ethnic Dance Festival showcases a dynamic and diverse cast of 35 professional world music and dance companies from Northern California. Events include dance performances, family matinees, children's programming, master classes, and community events.
